2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Macherelles, Domaine Jean-Claude Bachelet et Fils

2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Macherelles, Domaine Jean-Claude Bachelet et Fils

The Bachelets have four parcels in this premier cru, the oldest of which were planted in 1927 and 1960. It carries the superb concentration of old-vine fruit, with juicy pineapple intensity. Harmonious, deep and precise.

Tasting notes

Attractive pale lemon. The bouquet is quite stylish here, no question of too much sun, just enough to deliver a bit of character. A great sense of balance with just that little line of acidity that stops this being too simple. Macherelles makes a softer style than some vineyards, but there are some fine subtle nuances. The vineyard has reacted well to their turning bio, thinks Benoît. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted: October 2023.
