La Maltroie is one of the larger premiers crus in Chassagne, and is often one of the most restrained, backward wines in the Moreau cellar. The vines sit right in the middle of the village, opposite the cellar. The 2020 has a creamy density, and a tight, refined power. It feels young, like it will enjoy a long life ahead.

Tasting notes

The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet La Maltroye 1er Cru offers touches of white flower and dried honey on the nose, gaining intensity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, quite linear and maybe even conservative towards the finish. Yet it does gain intensity with aeration, so afford this two or three years in bottle.
