2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Canet, Olivier Leflaive Frères

This has that stinging, vibrant Puligny nose, and is unmistakably premier cru at the first sip. Prickly green fruit and freshly cut flowers. This is all lemon verbena and saline tension on the palate. You really can feel the influence of the chalky soil here in the precision and persistence of the wine. Only 5 barrels were made in 2019.

2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Canet, Olivier Leflaive Frères
Olivier Leflaive

One of Burgundy’s most recognisable names, Olivier Leflaive produces some of the Côte de Beaune’s finest whites from a mixture of domaine-owned vineyards and bought-in grapes. Olivier founded the company in 1984, and it has grown in quality and prestige ever since. With 17 hectares of their own vineyards in some of the region’s most prized plots, and using only the very best sources from their bought grapes and must, the wines being produced are now up there with the region’s very best.
