This pinnacle of Alain’s production is a single barrel of Chevalier-Montrachet, made on a land-swapping deal with another producer. In 2016 it’s intense and powerful, but still brooding at the moment. It’s like supercharged Puligny: there’s such extract on the palate, lemon oil and flowers. Impressive and so, so long.
