The plot of Charmes in Puligny borders Charmes in Meursault, so it’s a village vineyard next to a premier cru. It’s a step up from Alain’s village wine and, appropriately enough, utterly charming. A pretty nose leads on to a palate with real depth of flavour. It’s already delicious, but has time to grow.
