All Domaine Leflaive’s 1er Cru wines are vinified in exactly the same way, using 66% new oak, yet the differences between the wines is striking. Les Pucelles seems to combine the strengths of all the 1er Crus, with the elegance of Clavoillon, the richness of Folatières and the power of Combettes. It has a quite extraordinary, ethereal nose, which is jam-packed with citrus fruit, touches of white stone fruit and that hallmark Leflaive smoky nose. The palate is hugely concentrated, with an almost oily texture, but it possesses refreshingly pure acidity in abundance, with all elements in perfect harmony.
