2024 Santenay Les Hâtes, David Moreau

2024 Santenay Les Hâtes, David Moreau

Les Hâtes sits in the middle of the village, surrounded by premiers crus on well-draining soil. It makes for a floral, ethereal style of Pinot with lovely proportions. This floral character is a natural expression of the site which David sees emerge every year. 10-15% whole-bunch is brilliantly controlled here. A contender for the best price:quality ratio on the list this year.

Tasting notes

The 2024 Santenay Les Hâtes has a very well-defined bouquet with vivid red berry fruit, a touch of white pepper and bay leaf. The palate is medium-bodied with smooth tannins, fine acidity, a mixture of red and black fruit with, again, the pepper note on the harmonious finish. Excellent - this is one of Moreau's best cuvées in 2024.

A little denser crimson colour. The nose offers some concentration of a slightly darker berry fruit. There is certainly some class here. More generosity of fruit on the palate, a little spice at the finish. A greater sense of precision with a pleasing depth of fruit. Drink from 2028-2031. Tasted Oct 2025.
