This vineyard, bordering Pommard, did once produce wines with some robust, muscular tannins. But now that the vines have reached 70+ years, and Clément’s winemaking is less extractive, the tannins are softened, and particularly fine in 2024. It shows a touch of blueberry fruit, with plush and refreshing structure.
The 2024 Volnay Les Brouillards 1er Cru has a well-defined nose: red berry fruit and hints of brown autumn leaves percolating through with aeration. Fine delineation, a little leafy. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy, slightly chalky tannins; good energy here with a spicy finish that lingers in the mouth.
