2024 Beaune 1er Cru Grèves, Michel Lafarge

2024 Beaune 1er Cru Grèves, Michel Lafarge

Cellar Circle Exclusive

These are the oldest vines of the domaine, now over 100 years old. The Lafarges’ noble Beaune vineyards are held in equally high regard as their Volnays, particularly thanks to Grèves. There is an ethereal sweetness to the tannins here.

Tasting notes

The 2024 Beaune Grèves 1er Cru comes from 103-year-old vines, the oldest that belong to Lafarge. This has a touch more presence on the nose compared to the Clos des Aigrots: red cherries, wild strawberry and hints of orange pith that emerge with time. The palate is nicely structured with crunchy tannins. There is a little more backbone compared to the Aigrots, quite sapid in the mouth with a focused and bright finish. This will be difficult to resist in its flush of youth.

Mid crimson with a pink edge. The bouquet has a far more stylish fruit than the Aigrots. Little red fruits and a touch of cherry. 103 year old vines. Lovely structure behind, here the tannins are noble and the fruit continues far beyond them. An extremely stylish rendition. Drink from 2030-2035. Tasted Oct 2025.
