Tasting notes

The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Vieilles Vignes is a blend of domaine fruit from Les Plateaux and fully destemmed purchased fruit. A touch of licorice emerges on the nose, a little riper than the other cuvées though it manages to retain from delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy black fruit notes infused with graphite. This is a bit austere toward the finish. It just needs to manifest a little more brightness and "éclat."

One third their own vines in Les Plateaux, two thirds purchases from Longecourts. More ruby than purple, with a classic Nuits-St-Georges profile on the nose, a little plum alongside the red fruit. This comes across as more concentrated than the other village wines, with a useful structure from a mix of tannin and acidity. Robust, not rustic. Drink from 2028-2033. Tasted Oct 2024.
