This single vineyard Côtes de Nuits-Village is a true cut above its classification. Every year it comes out as a team favourite for the character, precision, and quality it delivers for the price. In 2023 its 25% whole-bunch fruit gives it peppery fragrance, with a gliding silkiness on the palate. It outplays many wines from grander communes every year, and 2023 is no exception.
Racked this morning. Still deeper purple. The nose has a stern dark fruit concentration, less immediately juicy than the other Côte de Nuits-Villages – Faulques has just been sulphured which may be tightening this up but it is clearly both concentrated and balanced. Drink from 2027-2030. Tasted Nov 2024.
