2023 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Domaine Jean-Marc Millot

2023 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Domaine Jean-Marc Millot

Clos de Vougeot is a huge vineyard, so it matters where you’re placed. Alix Millot’s plot is in Grand Maupertui, which borders Grands-Echézeaux, often considered the finest part of the vineyard. It’s a big, vibrant wine, with spiciness, dark cherry, and salty minerality.

Tasting notes

No stems were used for the Clos Vougeot, so the colour is a deeper purple and more forceful raspberry fruit with spices. Fuller bodied but avoiding the four square despite robust tannins to finish. Should sAlix have had whole bunch vinification? Possibly for conformity of style, but the wine works really well this way too. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted Nov 2024.
