This cuvée first appeared in 2015. It is made from the young(er) vines of the Clos de l’Arlot that had once been labelled ‘Petit Arlot’. It consistently proves its worth as a separate bottling with every new vintage. The 2023 is vibrant and energetic, with succulent tannins wrapped around fluent red fruit.
The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Mont des Oiseaux 1er Cru, matured in 35% new oak, has an elegant, quite mineral-driven bouquet that is vivacious and charming (like the 2022). The palate is silky smooth on the entry, very well balanced and unerringly pure, with a light yet energetic finish that has just the right amount of piquancy. This is an underrated cuvée from the Domaine that should not be overlooked.
A mid crimson ruby. Some fresh raspberry fruit, maybe a little orange blossom on the nose. This has an attractive generosity of strawberry-raspberry fruit in the mouth, very light tannins, and fair persistence. Helpful acidity. Drink from 2028-2031. Tasted Nov 2024.
