Latricières always feels a little cooler than Charmes-Chambertin, its neighbouring Grand Cru. A gentle but cool breeze draws down the valley, keeping freshness and minerality in the grapes. The 2023 exudes sapid red fruit, scents of raspberry and red cherries. There is a beautiful, fleshy weight in the mid-palate but also a delicious bite to the fruit on the finish. A precise and focussed example of the vintage.
The 2023 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru has a little more ripeness and precocity on the nose compared to Faiveley's other Grand Crus. There is just a touch of wet clay that tinctures the red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with forward tobacco-tinged red fruit and gentle grip, though here it just tapers away a little toward the finish where it requires more grip.
Medium garnet to crimson. Lighter on the nose as well. The bouquet has roses and raspberries, quite elegant, not massive but with finesse, though not the most concentrated. Drink from 2030-2038. Tasted Nov 2024.
