2023 Vosne-Romanée, Georges Mugneret-Gibourg

2023 Vosne-Romanée, Georges Mugneret-Gibourg

Cellar Circle Exclusive

This might just be the best village Vosne out there. It comes from four parcels which host a variety of vine ages. The relatively high proportion of younger vines gives this cuvée an explosive, juicy structure. It is powerful, elegant and beautiful with silky tannins, and fresh red fruit, packing lots of energy.

Tasting notes

The 2023 Vosne-Romanée Village, which unusually for the Domaine had already been blended, comes from four lieux-dits mainly behind the winery. It has a lifted bouquet with raspberry, wild strawberry and veins of black fruit, as hints of iris flower and violet surface with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with gorgeous dark cherry fruit laced with tobacco and white pepper, leading to a lilting, open-knit finish. Lovely.

A gorgeous purple colour, with a delicious sensual nose. Hard to imagine better than this. Easily enough concentration, the fruit absolutely filling the mouth, well integrated with its oak, and within a fine long predominantly red fruit finish. Drink from 2028-2033. Tasted Nov 2024.
