This parcel, right in the centre of the village, has been owned by the Lafarge family since 2005. It has an ideal mid-slope position, and produces a floral wine with great tension and an intense fruit core: quintessential Volnay. So pure and long, with a velvety structure.

Tasting notes

A glowing mid purple, much more density than Pitures as more clay in the soil. Impressive energy on the nose. This is gorgeous, with a supple but concentrated expression of red berry fruit which fills the palate and covers any tannins at the finish. Very typical Volnay with more presence this year than I can remember. Best they have ever made? I certainly cannot remember a more impressive Mitans. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted: December 2023.
