This tiny premier cru is set in a dip that was once a quarry (as the name alludes to). So as you might expect the soil is high in limestone, and the wine it produces is highly mineral. There is a sweet tenderness to the fruit, with a creamy length.

The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Les Lavrottes 1er Cru comes from the youngest vines on the Domaine (25 years) and includes 50% whole bunches. It has a straightforward bouquet with black cherries, cranberries, and a hint of pain d'épices. The palate is medium-bodied with a ripe and sweet entry. A "playful" Chambolle with good vigor, sorbet fruit, and a spicy finish that fans out nicely. Excellent.
