Tasting notes

The 2022 Echézeaux Grand Cru comes from Les Rouges du Bas and Les Quartiers de Nuits, co-fermented, and sees 60% new oak. The very fragrant on the nose offers dark berry fruit, orange pith, forest floor and hints of morels. Very, very pure. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, focused and poised, a little grittier in texture towards the finish that fans out wonderfully with hints of Earl Grey and 5-spice. An Echézeaux that will benefit from several years in bottle.

15% whole bunch following their tradition which began in 2016. A deep crimson purple. Quite a delicious bouquet here, refined, delicate, in the lattice-work style. Entirely a red berry fruit, alpine strawberries, excellent acidity, waves of nuanced fruit, flowing through to a fine long finish. Graceful and stylish. 43 hl/ha, 13.1% alcohol Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted: November 2023.
