This well-positioned vineyard on the Vosne side of the appellation sits on the slope, enjoying plenty of sunshine and the cooling ventilation of a constant breeze, keeping the fruit in excellent health during the growing season. The vineyard is on the border with Vosne-Romanée and the wine shows so much of its neighbour’s finesse as well as concentration, with Nuits’ bite and grip.
The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Chaignots 1er Cru suffered quite a lot during the summer according to Christine because of the dryness. Nevertheless, it has an exquisite bouquet with beautifully defined, minerally red fruit that seems to blossom in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, an almost citric bead of acidity with a lively and sustained finish. Wonderful.
