2019 Echézeaux Grand Cru, Jean Grivot

2019 Echézeaux Grand Cru, Jean Grivot

This wine has earned a strong following for its superb quality, and will no doubt sell out quickly on release. As ever, this is suave and intense, with an opulent and dazzling freshness. The finish goes on and on. What a treat this will be in the future.

Tasting notes

The 2019 Echézeaux Grand Cru was dense and broody on the nose, a stroppy teenager hiding in his bedroom. It only reluctantly offers blackberry, briar and pressed iris flower aromas. The palate is medium-bodied, one of the most decadent of Grivot’s 2019s in barrel. Touches of dark chocolate and black truffle enhance the persistent finish. Very saline and spicy on the aftertaste. This is a long-term Echézeaux.
