2017 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Petite Chapelle, Domaine Rossignol-Trapet

The clay soils of this well-placed parcel produce a wine of depth and roundness. Lots of clay defines this vineyard. Cool and fresh, and quite structured - nice fruit, darker and more brooding, maybe a bit closed today. But there’s nice energy on the finish, with cool, mouthcoating length. A sleeper - one to buy.

Domaine Rossignol-Trapet

After converting the domaine to become biodynamic in 2004, Nicolas and David are champions of minimal intervention, from vineyard to winery. The estate, founded in the marriage of the Rossignols of Volnay and the Trapets of Gevrey, has been run by both brothers since 1990. Their wines are elegant, refined, and pure, reflective of their desirable terroir.
