2017 Chambolle-Musigny, Domaine Taupenot-Merme

Romain has two parcels of village Chambolle, both high up the hill, giving the wine energy and elegance to complement its richness. Notes of small flowers and beautiful elegance. Such nice fruit, silky with a wonderful pinot character. The acid structure is so fine, with lovely tannins.

2017 Chambolle-Musigny, Domaine Taupenot-Merme
Domaine Taupenot-Merme

In the words of Neal Martin in The Wine Advocate, this is “a domaine that has improved immensely in recent vintages, armed with an impressive array of holdings and fashioning classic, restrained Chardonnay and Pinot Noirs.” We don’t disagree. Eponymous winemaker Romain Taupenot is a delight to taste with, candid and engaging, and his wines are equally delightful. They’re a lesson in the reasons why sensitive handling of great vineyards leads to equally great wines.
