2016 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Cherbaudes, Domaine Tawse

Probably the richest of Gevrey’s premiers crus, situated immediately below. A sleeper. Quite closed, but there’s real spice and nice freshness here. Lovely purity of fruit still.

2016 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Cherbaudes, Domaine Tawse
Domaine Marchand-Tawse

Domaine Tawse is the part of the Marchand-Tawse stable that owns vineyards, including the Gevrey-Chambertin based Domaine Maume, purchased in 2013. Englishman Mark Fincham is responsible for these wines, including beautiful holdings of Mazis-Chambertin, and the wines here improve every year, including low-sulphur bottlings, and wines that demonstrate the array of Burgundy’s terroirs.
