2014 Chambolle-Musigny La Combe d'Orveaux, Jean Grivot

When Etienne exchanges wines with other producers (a well established tradition), he almost finds more demand for his Chambolle Combe d'Orveaux than for his Premiers and Grands Crus! It is easy to see why. A juicy, velvety core of red fruit follows a pretty, floral nose with superb precision to the palate. Delicious.

2014 Chambolle-Musigny La Combe d'Orveaux, Jean Grivot
Domaine Jean Grivot

Patriarch Jean Grivot passed on the domaine to his son, Etienne, in 1987, who is now passing the torch on to his daughter Mathilde. With densely planted old vines, tended organically, yields are low and complexity high. As the grapes pass through Etienne and Mathilde’s cellar, her lightness of touch builds on the trend of this superb address towards purity and refinement, without losing any of the tell-tale structure. At this benchmark Burgundy domaine, Grivot’s wines remain impressive.
