2012 Chambertin Grand Cru, Maison Roche de Bellene

Surprisingly open and expressive for a Chambertin with its top notes of plumand violets, this almost fools you into thinking it is very approachable, until you realise just how huge, intense and powerful it really is on the palate. The tannic structure may be huge but once again the ripe and velvety nature of 2012 tannins helps themintegrate the wine beautifully. This teases on the mid-palate with its ripe cherry, lavender and truffle flavours but it plainly will have a lot more to offer in time.
