2012 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Malconsorts, Domaine de Montille
This wine really shows off how special a 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts is. It is a massive, rich black fruit-scented wine with incredibly seductive texture and beautiful polish. What takes it into the ethereal, however, is its splendid complexity, courtesy of the subtle notes of truffle, graphite and mineral that are only hinted at originally but reveal themselves gloriously on the never-ending finish. Stunning.
