2012 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Jean Grivot

Very masculine, spicy, tannic and square-shouldered naturally, through the winemaking it keeps its dark, broody fruit and intensity but also gains an opened, expressive and aromatic edge on the nose and a velvety mouth feel which really take this wine to heights rarely achieved in Clos Vougeot.

2012 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Jean Grivot
Domaine Jean Grivot

Patriarch Jean Grivot passed on the domaine to his son, Etienne, in 1987, who is now passing the torch on to his daughter Mathilde. With densely planted old vines, tended organically, yields are low and complexity high. As the grapes pass through Etienne and Mathilde’s cellar, her lightness of touch builds on the trend of this superb address towards purity and refinement, without losing any of the tell-tale structure. At this benchmark Burgundy domaine, Grivot’s wines remain impressive.
