2010 Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots, Georges Mugneret-Gibourg
From a site near to Vosne Romanee, this is a more elegant style of Nuits. The palate is sweet, ripe and concentrated, with a darker and yet more heady profile than the Chambolle. While the tannic structure is quite robust, the overall impression is of a silky texture and tremendous balance. Profound, dark fruit give this wine a sense of depth, but the vintage-hallmark freshness lends tremendous balance. This is certainly no rustic Nuits, but an immensely classy wine from a highly successful vintage for this property.
