2009 Chambertin Grand Cru, Maison Roche de Bellene

Many commentators regard Le Chambertin as the king of red Burgundy and it is easy to see why: the depth and power are astonishing. Whilst still quite brooding on the nose, the big, sexy, rich chocolatey palate rewards instantly - the only reason to wait for it is the thought of just how much more this will give when it is out of its infancy. The long, spicy finish lingers for an eternity - which is roughly how long this wine will gracefully age!

2009 Chambertin Grand Cru, Maison Roche de Bellene
Nicolas Potel

In 2005, Nicolas built up his own Estate, Domaine de Bellene, in the Côte de Beaune. Then in 2008 launched his new negociant business called "Maison Roche de Bellene" which also includes a range of very rare older vintages, under the name "Collection Bellenum". These wines, dating back to 1959 are the result of a very strict selection of old vintages exceptionally released from the wine cellars of some of the most famous producers of Burgundy.
