2009 Chambolle Musigny, Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux

A little closed on the nose when we tasted, but ripe red fruit notes emerged with time in the glass. While the tannins on this villages style came across as a little robust, there was an overall sense of balance, suggesting that this will greatly improve as it ages. Attractively fragrant on the finish, with notes of raspberry and white flowers.

2009 Chambolle Musigny, Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux
Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux

There are numerous examples of Burgundy domaines where the handover between generations has proven something of an upheaval. Fortunately Arnoux-Lachaux bucks the trend, with father Pascal and son Charles working closely together. They approach vineyard management using organic growing methods, and just as fastidiously in the winery. With Pascal’s influence, they represent the most rapid change in style of any Burgundy domaine, and the wines are now quite pure and elegant, with depth of flavour.
