Of all the Côte-de-Nuits Grands Crus, the wines of Clos deVougeot are the most difficult to come to terms with. In theregion of 70 proprietors own land within the walls of the 50-hectare vineyard whose history dates back to the 14th century. With such a multitude of growers, Clos de Vougeot can be asdisappointing as it can be glorious and the style variationsbetween wines from the upper slopes and those adjacent tothe N74 (the main artery road of the Côte d'Or) challenge themost experienced of tasters. Clearly Nicolas has selected hisgrower skilfully for this Clos de Vougeot. This is a beautifullyharmonious, concentrated, multi-faceted wine.
