As is the norm, we tasted the component parts of what will assuredly be amagnificent Clos des Epéneaux. Fruit from the young parcel (from 19 and 23year- old vines) will be kept separate and sold as Pommard 1er Cru, whereaswines from the three older parcels of 35, 50 and 75+ year vines will beassembled in proportions decided by Benjamin and a small group of invitedfellow winemakers. Following tasting the three individual cuvées we tasted anapproximate final blend, a superbly generous, ample, compelling and multifacetedbeauty of a wine that is destined for stardom. The explosive fruitiness ofthe 35-year vine cuvée, melds with the rich, brambly succulence of the winefrom 50-year vines and the structure and power offered by the old vines cuvée.This will certainly prove to be a stunning wine.
