2005 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts, Sylvain Cathiard

As befits wine from a vineyard that borders La Tache, the Domaine's Malconsorts displays stunning complexity and structure. Very straight and masculine but with a great, delicate finish. Exotic, complex, aristocratic and luscious, this is Pinot with great pedigree and aplomb. A fabulous effort that is Grand Cru in all but title. This needs time, but patience will be well rewarded.
