Tasted April 2022. Dark plummy fruit mixed with brighter, crunchy raspberry on the palate. There's some firmness in the tannins now but they provide structure and will soften over time, framing the core of ripe fruit. Some lifted red cherry, floral notes. Acidity is bright and refreshing and the finish is savoury.
The 2021 Labégorce is a powerful, driving wine. It is not exactly subtle, but it definitely packs a good punch. Black cherry, gravel, incense, spice, licorice and scorched earth abound. This is a decidedly savory/earthy Margaux, with burly contours and a few rough edges, but overall it’s enjoyable.
