Owned by the Roederer group, and a sister to Pichon-Lalande, 2018 was a great vintage in St-Estèphe, where the cool soils worked brilliantly with the generosity of the vintage. Silky, supple, but still fresh: outstanding.

Château de Pez

Sometimes referred to as the Pomerol of St-Estèphe thanks to its use of top quality Merlot in the blend, Château de Pez is going from strength to strength. Historically, Château de Pez dates back to the 15th century, making it, along with Calon-Segur, one of the oldest properties in St-Estèphe. In 1585 the first vines were planted by the Pontac family, best known for Château Haut-Brion. Although it went through many changes of hands over the course of the 19th and 20th century, in 1995 it was bought by the Rouzaud family, owners of Champagne house, Louis Roederer and Second-Growth Pichon-Lalande. It is managed by Sylvie Cazes, whose family owns Lynch-Bages.
