So impressed were we when we tasted the first ever vintage of l’If (2011), that it was difficult to imagine how much it could improve over 3 short years under Jacques Thienpont’s of Le Pin's meticulous stewardship. Next to Troplong-Mondot, this vineyard is starting to really sing. The 2014 l’If is impressively rich, with a very ripe plummy core of fruit, lively freshness, velvety texture and perfectly melded tannins and oak flavours. Very long and promising excellent ageing potential, this is wonderful stuff, and a star buy.
