A tad muted on the nose when we tasted the barrel sample although showing a nice core of black fruit, we were amazed by the explosion of flavour on the palate. The concentration is simply astounding, the texture as rich and seductive as anything made from grapes can ever hope to be, yet there is a precision, minerality and freshness there that give an overall impression of stunning balance - 2014 Palmer is simply superb and once again punching well above its 3rd growth weight. It can rightfully claim a place alongside the First and Super Second growths.
