2010 Château Léoville-Poyferré, Cru Classé St-Julien

2010 Château Léoville-Poyferré, Cru Classé St-Julien

Léoville-Poyferré have been exhibiting the class of their terroir in increasingly impressive fashion and the 2010 is no exception. Stunning purity of fruit dominates the nose, with crême de cassis brought into the ethereal by lighter, more floral notes of freshly picked violets. Anyone able to move on from this beguiling perfume will find a rich, almost chocolatey palate with ripe cherries, reminiscent of black forest gâteau. This impressive wine is completed by a very long finish - surely one of the wines of the vintage?
