2009 Château l'Evangile, Pomerol
Initially dumb on the nose, the palate is rich and seamless with a mineral grip. There is an attractive core of violet and ripe, plummy Merlot fruit, as well as a subtle mineral vein. Really refined, with an appealing layered nature, this is a truly great l'Evangile, which effortlessly combines power and freshness. Lingering on the finish, this is a true expression of vineyard and vintage that is certainly up there with the best wines ever produced at this property.
