2006 Château Belair, 1er Grand Cru Classé St-Emilion

2006 Château Belair, 1er Grand Cru Classé St-Emilion

Belair is situated on the highest point of the St. Emilion plateau, next to Château Ausone and boasting vines over 100 years old. An attractive, fragrant nose with ripe, sweet cherry and blackberry fruit. The tannins are fine and ripe on the palate, prominent enough to add backbone to the ripe, rich damson and red berry fruit character whilst not becoming dominant. There is a delightful freshness here and a vein of almost steely minerality adding a sense of poise and elegance to the palate. This is effortless st-emilion – pure and really very good indeed.
