2006 Alter Ego de Château Palmer, Margaux

2006 Alter Ego de Château Palmer, Margaux

Open and fresh on the nose, with succulent, ripe cassis fruit and a more expressive floral nature than the grand vin, this is highly appealing. On the palate, fine-grained tannins and a freshening acidity provide the structural backdrop. There is a core of ripe, hedgerow fruit, and a sense of terroir-driven minerality throughout. An extremely well-executed, balanced and attractive wine. As Thomas Duroux, the manager and wine-maker at Château Palmer, was keen to point out, Alter Ego de Palmer is not “just” a second wine, but an excellent cuvée in its own right.
