2006 Château Lafite-Rothschild, 1er Cru Pauillac
Opaque and vivid in the glass, Lafite shows beautiful scents of blackcurrant, cassis, tobacco leaf and mineral. On the palate the poise is striking, rich, with layer upon layer of velvety flowing fruit. Bold and expansive with plenty of substance and plenty of tannin to boot. Taut, with fine, yet gripping tannins veiled by an appealing volume of pure, dusky black fruit. The tell-tale juicy, succulent quality of the vintage is clear to see. Tremendously long on the finish. A classical, majestic Lafite with fine potential.
