2005 Ségla, Margaux

2005 Ségla, Margaux

The second wine (of Chateau Rauzan-Ségla) is simply entitled "Ségla" which in my humble opinion, represents one of the finest value-for-money wines in Bordeaux: the quality can be exceptionally good.” Neal Martin. Ségla 2005 comprises 54.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, 1.5% Cabernet Franc. Classified a deuxième cru classé in 1855, Chateau Rauzan-Ségla has benefited from investment and improvement over the last 20 years, strengthening its position as a true "Super Second".

Deep garnet colour. Pretty aromas of cassis, cedar, cloves and a touch of violets. Earth / loam. Medium acid and a medium+ level of fine tannins. This is generally a harmonious, elegant, second wine from this blockbuster vintage that is approachable now. Long finish.
