2005 Château Bahans Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan

2005 Château Bahans Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan

The second wine of Haut-Brion comprises 45% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark berry on the nose, bolder than La Chapelle. The palate offers a fine weight of mulberry and currant fruit, velvety in texture with a gentle tannic grip. Far more volume here than one often associates with Bahans. Vibrant, with good density, there are already some leafy, undergrowth notes of complexity. A very good effort indeed.
