2004 Château l'Evangile, Pomerol

Bright deep crimson, like a crimson velvet robe; intense blackcurrant fruit on the nose and an edge of blackcurrant leaf, interwoven by a lovely meaty note and a hint of vanilla - very complex and intertwined. Terrific rich fruit attack, sustained by spicy mid palate and good fruit concentration to the finish, with no dryness even though the tannins are quite evident. Pure and refreshing.
