Not opaque in appearance, 2004 Gruaud-Larose reveals fine, gently scented berry aromas on the nose with blackcurrant the most prominent. In a similar vein, the palate shows pleasing harmony and attractive sweet fruit qualities. This is not as powerful or showy as some of its counterparts which comes as no surprise given Gruaud's natural style. The acidity here is well integrated making for a wine that does not lack richness, but certainly hinges on elegance. A very classic style with a marked freshness.
