From the plateau, in sight of the west walls of St-Emilion, the 2003 Beau-Séjour is a deep damson colour in the glass. On the palate it is rich and round with fine breadth. With well-ripened fruit (70% Merlot) the wine has a concentration seldom found in the appellation in this vintage. With decades in the bottle now there are some lovely leather and dried tobacco notes on the nose and a silkiness on the palate.
