2003 Château Ausone, 1er Grand Cru Classé (A) St-Emilion

2003 Château Ausone, 1er Grand Cru Classé (A) St-Emilion

With a production of only 1500 cases it is little surprise that this is a hugely intense wine. With 55% Cabernet Franc and the balance Merlot, yields were below 30 hectolitres per hectare. Has a sweetly intense vanilla aroma, with layers of spice and chocolate. A deliciously ripe wine with extraordinary extract; long and firm on the finish, this will certainly reward patience.
