El Enemigo
Founded in 2009 as a joint venture between Adrianna Catena and Alejandro Vigil, El Enemigo’s name conveys their winemaking philosophy: El Enemigo means ‘the enemy’, and is a nod to the battles they’ve faced in their pursuit of excellence, and determination to craft wines that challenge the status quo.
With an excellent winemaking pedigree – Adrianna is the daughter of Nicolás Catena Zapata, and Alejandro is Head Winemaker of Bodega Catena Zapata – they have superb vineyard sites located in Lujan de Cuyo at altitudes between 900 and 1500 metres, and this duo aim to create Argentine wines that rival the very best of Bordeaux.
All of El Enemigo’s single vineyard wines are a blend of 85% Cabernet Franc and 15% Malbec, and are vinified in the same way, allowing the terroir and differing vineyard altitudes to take centre stage.
