Château Beau-Séjour Bécot
Beau-Séjour Bécot is a Premier Grand Cru Classé that shows off its superb terroir admirably. It is situated to the west of St-Emilion, on limestone soils reminiscent of those found at Château Ausone. The estate has had a turbulent past, losing and regaining its 1er Grand Cru status, but it is now one of the leading Grand Cru Classés and only Château Pavie is larger in terms of vineyard size in this part of St-Emilion. It has been owned by the Bécot family since 1969, who added their name to the estate. Prior to their arrival it was known as Château Beauséjour-Fagouet and historically the vineyards were once part of a significantly larger estate which was split in the 18th century. The Bécot’s also make their own garage-style wine, La Gomerie.
